2023 INTERNATIONAL LEGISLATORS’ FORUM AGENDA

Dear ILF delegates and guests,

We are delighted to welcome you to the 2023 International Legislators’ Forum in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This page will provide you with some FAQ and housekeeping pointers. Please note that there have been some changes made to the agenda-  including Friday’s speaker on indigenous health, Stephanie Van Haute, is being replaced by Rev. Michael Thibert due to rural infrastructure issues.

  • What’s the attire? The daily Forum conference is business casual, no suits or ties required. Wednesday night’s reception at the French restaurant Resto Gare is business casual. Thursday night’s banquet at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights is business/semi-formal.
  • Where am I going? For those staying at the Inn at the Forks, the conference location (Canadian Museum for Human Rights) is just a short walk across an adjoining green space. If you are staying elsewhere, you may need to take public transportation or plan on driving to the museum and parking there for the day. We will use the “GROUP ENTRANCE” doors as the museum main entrance doesn’t open until 10:00am.

Friday morning, a bus will leave the Inn at the Forks at 8:45 to take our delegation to the Manitoba Legislative Assembly building. Guests choosing not to take the bus are responsible for finding their own parking near the Legislative Assembly and arriving on time to join the tour at 9:00am.

  • What about meals? All meals are provided, from Wednesday dinner to Saturday lunch–except for Friday night dinner. We encourage you to get out and explore Winnipeg on your own or with your colleagues Friday night. Please note that breakfast is served at the Museum for Human Rights Thursday and Saturday, but Friday will be served in the Solstice Room of the Smith House Restaurant on-site at Inn at the Forks. Guests staying elsewhere are encouraged to join us for breakfast Friday morning and hop on the bus to visit the Legislative Assembly.
  • What should I bring each day? Just yourself and good walking shoes! You may want to bring something to write on (and with) if you are a note-taker. Snacks, coffee, and water will be provided throughout the day. Americans, generally speaking, your debit and credit cards should work in Canada. You may want to alert your bank that you will be travelling outside the US this week.
  • What about my guest? If you are bringing a spouse or guest, they are welcome to join us for Wednesday’s pre-Forum activities and Thursday’s evening reception. We will also be providing a welcome packet with recommended activities/sites in Winnipeg. Government-related guests like legislative assistants and dignitaries are welcome to attend the Forum as non-participatory observers.
  • What if I have other questions? Please feel free to contact me at the numbers and email listed below, or see the last page of the agenda for a full list of Consensus Council staff.
