On May 13–14, the Consensus Council Board of Directors gathered in Watford City for a regional meeting focused on learning, relationship-building, and community engagement in western North Dakota.
During their visit, board members met with McKenzie County leaders Gene Veeder and Joel Brown to learn about the region’s growth and evolution throughout the Bakken oil boom and the opportunities and challenges that continue to shape local communities today.
The visit concluded with a tour of the MHA Nation Interpretive Center in New Town. While visiting the Three Affiliated Tribes, board members had the opportunity to meet with MHA Tribal Council Representative Robert White (Four Bears Segment), MHA Nation Tourism Director Damon Brady, and guide Gary Snow, who shared insights into the history, culture, and future of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation.
Consensus Council also had the opportunity to visit Board Member Erica Johnsrud in her home community and gain a deeper understanding of this unique and vibrant region of North Dakota.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all who welcomed our board and shared their time, knowledge, and perspectives. These opportunities help strengthen relationships and deepen our understanding of the communities we serve across the state.
